EMDR Intensives
What an EMDR intensive is:
An EMDR intensive is a concentrated version of standard EMDR therapy. Instead of weekly hour-long sessions, we work in longer blocks over a shorter period. The exact format depends on what you're working on and what fits your circumstances, get in touch and we can talk it through.
How the format differs:
Concentrated format - several hours of therapy over days rather than weekly hours
Fewer interruptions between sessions, so you stay with the material
Scheduling that can work around travel or work commitments
Who they might suit
EMDR intensives may be a good fit if you:
Have experienced trauma or distressing events
Would prefer a focused, immersive format to weekly appointments
Find it hard to commit to a regular weekly time
Are travelling to Alstonville from outside the area
What to Expect:
Assessment - we start with a thorough assessment of your history and what you'd like to work on
EMDR sessions - extended sessions using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping or sounds) to process traumatic memories
Support before and after - preparation beforehand, and follow-up to help consolidate the work
Things to consider
Intensives are emotionally demanding, and they aren't right for everyone. It helps to have support around you during and afterwards and some people benefit from follow-up sessions once the intensive is finished.
Intensives are tailored to your situation. Get in touch to talk through format and cost.
